Question 1: A report author creates the following filter in a report: [Region] in ('Americas,' 'Asia Pacific') Which type of filter was created?

  1. Parameterized
  2. Custom based on data item
  3. Combined
  4. Advanced

I want to remove the option "Parameterized." Why? We don't have any parameters in the above filter.

To explain the remaining three options, we will first open the report studio create a new list report with columns revenue from the sales table and Region from the retailers table.

I want to first focus on Combined. A combined filter is used to combine one or more conditions. Click on the Region Columns, and then we need to click on the filter icon select the "Edit Filters." We need to create a new filter click on the plus icon in the dialog box to add a new filter. Select Combined and then click on the "OK" button. Next, we need to select the first columns, select the Region, and then select Americas from the Individual tab. Click on the "OK" button to save the changes. The combined filter dialog is still open; now, we can either add a new condition or click on the OK button to close it. We need to define a condition for the 'Asia Pacific ' Region. Click on the plus icon and repeat the process for 'Asia Pacific'. By default, one more condition or combined using the "AND" operator. To change the operator, we need to select the "AND" operator, and then we need to click on the "OR" operator. As shown here, definitely author is not using a combined filter.

Last I need to test the "Custom based on data item" option. Click on cancel to ignore the previous filter. Click on the plus sign again to add a new detail filter, and then ensure "Custom based on data item" is active and select the "Region" from the drop-down. Click on the "OK" button to select the values. From the "Available items," select "Americas" and the "Asia Pacific." Click on the "OK" button to save the filter. Check the filter condition it contains includes. Using the front end dialog to create a filter of type "Custom based on data item" contains the "includes" keyword.

So finally, the "Advanced." option is the correct choice for this question.

Correct Answer: Advanced

Question 2: What can be done when using a SQL Object when not using a Stored Procedure?

  1. Update a database.
  2. Insert rows into database.
  3. Delete rows in a database.
  4. Select rows from a database.

In this question, you need to be careful. First, you need to ensure you can focus on "not using a stored procedure." It means the report author is not using the "Stored Procedure.". Now, the best possible answer is we can perform a select operation without any issue. But with the "Pass-Through" option, we can perform all the mentioned actions. Because in the question, nothing mentioned the SQL Object properties, it is safe to select "Select rows from a database."

Correct Answer: Select rows from a database.

Question 3: A report author has to create a Crosstab report with Region, and Prodcur data in the rows of the crosstab can be created in two different ways, as shown below.

Crosstab A and Crosstab B

Which Crosstab/Crosstabs is/are discontinuous Crosstab/Corsstabs?

  1. Crosstab A
  2. Crosstab B
  3. Crosstab A nor Crosstab B
  4. Neither Crosstab A nor Crosstab B

The answer to this question is "Corsstab B". Why? In the "Crosstab A," Product Line is nested within the Region.
A crosstab is a discontinuous cross tab when the author adds a new data item either above or below another data item in rows or adds a new data item towards the left or right another data item in columns. For example, in the "Crosstab B," the Product line is below Region. It is not nested.

Correct Answer: Crosstab B

Question 4: When using a SQL object, what is the property SQL syntax by default?

  1. Native,
  2. Pass-Through
  3. IBM Cognos
  4. Limited Local

To answer this, why not quickly create a new SQL object. Launch report studio, switch to Queries explorer, and finally drag and drop SQL Object from insertable objects. Finally, select the SQL node and check its properties.

The default value for the property "SQL syntax " is "Native."

Correct Answer: Native

Question 5: A report author would like to reuse a logo across all existing reports. Which object should be used?

  1. Layout Component Reference
  2. Template
  3. Global Class
  4. Bookmark

The correct answer is the "Layout Component Reference." To explain, let's open IBM Cognos Analytics. Here we have two reports. On the left, we a report with a header and footer. In the header, we have our company logo. We need to replicate the same header in the blank report towards the right. To replicate the same header in other reports, we can use the "Layout Component Reference." Add layout component reference in the header from the Toolbox. Next, in the Component reference dialog, select the "Another report" radio button and select the appropriate report. Finally, the "Available components to reference:" select the appropriate component and then click on the "OK" button. In our case, we need to select "tbHeader." We can repeat the same step for the remaining elements. In this video, we also need to add a footer.

Correct Answer: Layout Component Reference.

Question 6: A business manager wants to set the current Dashboard as the home page.

Which mode allows this task?

  1. Priority
  2. Run
  3. View
  4. Review

To set the current Dashboard as the home, we need first to run the Dashboard and then select the more option from the main toolbar and select the option "Set as home.". It is not very clear here whether run and view are the same option. Why? To run or view the Dashboard, we need to click on its name, triggering the Dashboard execution.

Correct Answer: Run

Question 7: A report author wants to display the report name on the report page. Which type of calculation should be used?

  1. Query calculation
  2. Layout calculation
  3. Field set
  4. Singleton

To display a report name, we need to use the function "ReportName ()". In the query calculation, we are not able to use the "ReportName ()" function. With layout calculation, we can use the "ReportName ()" function. Fieldset contains a simple text box. Finally, in a singleton, we need to use a query and a data item. Again a data item is nothing a query calculation.

Correct Answer: Layout Calculation

Question 8: How can an Uploaded file be combined with data from a database?

  1. Use a Master-detail relationship.
  2. Create a Data module.
  3. Include the Uploaded file and a package as a Data Source to the report.
  4. Nest a List using the Uploaded file with another List from a package.

Use a Master-detail relationship: A master-detail relationship is used when our data is already cleaned and combined. As per the question, we need to upload a file, but the Master-detail relationship is not the same.

Include the Uploaded file and a package as a Data Source to the report: For a report source, we can either use a data module or framework manager package as a source.

Nest a List using the Uploaded file with another List from a package: Again, we cannot directly use the uploaded file with this option.

Data Module: It is the last remaining option. It is correct. Why? Because data module is a data modeling tool where we can combine one or more data sources. As per this question, we need to combine an uploaded file with a database source, and we can achieve it within the data module.

Correct Answer: Create a Data module.

Question 9: A company is using a model that was created in Compatible Query Mode (CQM). There is a report that must reference query subjects from two different packages.

How can this be accomplished?

  1. The report author can add multiple packages to the reports as Data sources and create the report as needed.
  2. The report author can use user-defined SQL to develop the query from one of the packages and the other package to develop the other query and then join them appropriately to get the desired results within the report.
  3. The report author must use SQL nodes for all queries that reference the data items in the two packages and join them appropriately to get the desired results within the report.
  4. The report author cannot create reports that reference multiple Data sources.

The report author can add multiple packages to the reports as Data sources and create the report as needed: If a package is created using compatible query mode, we cannot add more than one Framework Manager Package.

The report author can use user-defined SQL to develop the query from one of the packages and the other package to develop the other query and then join them appropriately to get the desired results within the report: Yes, It is possible can use it in such a scenario.

The report author must use SQL nodes for all queries that reference the data items in the two packages and join them appropriately to get the desired results within the report: It is also possible, but we already have one package, so why re-invent the cycle for one package.

The report author cannot create reports that reference multiple Data sources: It is not valid because we can use SQL object, Framework Manager, or Data Module to combine data from one or more sources.

Correct Answer: The report author can use user-defined SQL to develop the query from one of the packages and the other package to develop the other query and then join them appropriately to get the desired results within the report

Question 10: A report author wants to display Revenue and Quantity by Product line in one chart and use a combination chart. A bar chart is used for revenue and a line chart for quantity. While the bar chart is clear and easy to understand, the lines are almost missing and are different to read.
What can be done to solve the problem?

  1. Multiply Quantity by 1000000 and set the scale to -6 to display.
  2. Map Quantity to a y axis with a different scale.
  3. Use a conditional scale.
  4. Build two charts next to each other.

Build two charts next to each other: We can use this option. But let us try to check the other options.

For the rest of the options, we need to open a sample report within the report studio. Run the report. We can check that the quantity line is not visible, so what can we do to fix it?

Multiply Quantity by 1000000 and set the scale to -6 to display: Selec the Quantity and then edit the expression. In the express add "* 100000". Run your report. Now the line chart is easily visible, but bar charts are gone. Let try to fix it by adding scale. Select Quantity again, and then we need to apply "Data Format" under properties. Next, under the "Format type:" select number and then under scale select -6. Save and run the report. No change.

Map Quantity to a y-axis with a different scale: For this option, we need to move Quantity from the primary axis into the y-axis. Save and run the report. We are getting the same result; no changes line is not visible properly. Let us try to play with scale. Select Quantity again, and then we need to apply "Data Format" under properties. Next, under the "Format type:" select number and then under scale type 6. Save and run the report. No change.

Just for the information, we are using a Chart Visualization. Not 11 Visualization. The visualization in version 11.1.3 is working fine. And it is available on the left. We already tried two options with scale, the same thing with the Conditional Scale. The remaining option is if we need to use the Chart visualization, then we need to use two different graphs for such a scenario.
If you need to use a single chart, then maybe you can multiply Quantity with and 100 under the "Data Form" use "Number" as a "Format type" with scale -2. It is with the current Go Sales Data. Maybe we can use "Multiply Quantity by 1000000 and set the scale to -6 to display the:" option, but it entirely depends on the values we are getting in the data.

As per the current data in the sample Go Sales Database and lack of information, it is best to create two charts. But we can also use the option "Multiply Quantity by 1000000 and set the scale to -6 to display"  if we know the value differences between revenue and Quantity.
