Question: Difference between Cognos Data Manager Catalog and Package
 
Answer: Cognos Data Manager Catalog Backup is a collection of all the components available in a Data Manager Catalog (or Project). In case of Cognos Data Manager Package is a collection of selected items including their dependent components. A Package is a subset of catalog. We use a Catalog Backup when we want to create a copy of our project. On the other hand Package is used for import and export selected components in between two catalogs.
